Amazon.com As part of the in-demand Ram Trilogy group, Andy C was so of-the-minute in 1999 that it's tough to remember how long he's been part of the jungle scene--since Day One, when the music was called 'ardkore. This compilation finds him mixing together 20 tracks (only one by him) from the mid '90s, leaving behind jungle's early reggae influences, and developing a serious hip-hop jones. The emphasis here is on the beats: Pure Rollers says the title, and Andy C rolls out "Roll That S***," "Roll On," "Just Roll," "Rolling Number," and "Let's Roll." Get the picture? The style was called hardstep, or maybe jump-up, depending where you draw your line, and the argument made for it here leaves no room for dissension. Literally no room: the beats rolled out by Marvellous Cain, Dream Team, Benny Blanco, et al. are so relentless you're too busy keeping up to even consider opting out. --Jeff Salamon
Classic. Classic. Classic. I've been an every day junglist for a long time, and this is one of my top five favorite mixes ever. This album is a perfect reflection of Jungle/Drum & Bass of this particular moment in time. These tunes are jumpy, bumpy, and rolling. Andy C does a superb job of blending the tracks flawlessly. I still bump this mix regularly, and even recently bought it again to replace my old well-used scratched CD. Pick it up while you have the chance. You won't regret it. Rrrrrrrrespect!!!
